Narrative Poem

Write a narrative poem based on the picture. A narrative poem tells a story.

Include as many of the senses as possible: sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Include at least one line of dialogue (this can be a thought, but it must be the actual thought, ie. “I am lost,” she thought.) It can rhyme or be blank verse.

Answer the following questions, then write the poem:

1) Setting

Is it day or night?

Where is it?

What colors do you see?

What feelings do you get as you look at the picture?

2) Character

What are they feeling?

What are they thinking?

3) Action

Are they thinking about something that happened in the past? What happened to them? How do they feel about it?

What is happening to them now? How do they feel about it?

Are they thinking about something that will happen? What is are they hoping will happen? How do they feel about it?
